Our Indian Rocks Rentals homes are conveniently located in the middle of the two bridges that connect our city to the mainland. The City limits of Indian Rocks Beach are approximately 3.5 miles long (from north to south) along Gulf Blvd. Based solely on it's size, Indian Rocks is generally considered to be a walkable, pedestrian friendly city. Exploring the city on-foot tends to give you an up-close perspective of the city that you can't really get with any other mode of transportation. It is a great way to spend a day or two exploring and photographing all of the little nooks & crannies of the area.
The main thoroughfare is Gulf. Blvd., and pedestrian sidewalks run the entire route from the Belleair Beach Causeway (north), to the Walsingham Bridge (south). Although, sometimes you have to share the sidewalk with some of the Indian Rocks Beach "Locals". South of the Walsingham Bridge, the sidewalks disappear and turn into specially designated pedestrian lanes on the side of the road (through the Narrows). You have the option to walk the length of the entire city via the sidewalks on Gulf Blvd., or via the beach shoreline, with your feet in the sand and surf.
Specially designated crosswalks are available every few blocks and provide safe crossing zones from the east side of Gulf Blvd. to the west side, and visa versa. Traffic lights and electronic pedestrian crosswalk signs are in place at both the north bridge and the south bridge intersections.
If you walk the beach, be sure to note the beach access signs. Beach access signs mark the location of each access based on the avenue that it corresponds with. If you get swept-up in the sights and sounds of the beach during your leisurely stroll, and find that you've gone too far (which is easy to do)… you always have the option (for a small fee) to hop on the Beach Trolley and ride back to your vacation rental home. Beach Trolley stops are located at regular intervals throughout all of the nearby beach towns (except Belleair Beach & Belleair Shore). All of our rental homes have a trolley stop within a block or two of the home.
Water fountains and public restrooms can be found at Kolb Park, the IRB Nature Center park and the Main County Beach Access Park. There are also several shops, restaurants and convenience stores throughout the city where you can cool-off and purchase food, drinks, sunscreen, etc.
Important safety tips before you head-out on foot…

2. Apply sunscreen with an SPF of 45 or higher.
3. Wearing comfortable shoes, sunglasses, and a hat is highly recommended
4. If you plan to be walking at night, wear light colored clothing and apply insect repellant
5. If you are walking on side-streets at night, a flashlight is highly recommended as well, because there are no sidewalks on the side streets and some are pretty dark.
